Google Penguin 2.1 Update

Google’s web spam head MattCutts has official announced a new update for penguin i.e. Penguin 2.1 in one of his tweet.

Google has however, become more tight lipped about what their updates are targeting, so it is unlikely that any official announcement  will be made concerning the areas where penguin 5 or 2.1 are going to cause the most impact. This first Google update of October is affecting 3% of websites around the world.

Panda updates mainly concern your On-page optimization, whereas penguin updates are about off-page optimization issues (your backlinks, basically).

Penguin-Update

I have personally found few changes in the rankings but still I think we could see more fluctuations in the coming week. Yet the webmasters forums and threads are not active on this update, but I feel many webmasters have noticed this change and will share their experience in coming days.

Before making any changes to your website, wait a few days to see how it is recovering and then continue with a strategy. Later, if you were hit by penguin, you’ll likely know if you see a marked drop in a traffic that begins today or tomorrow. To recover, you’ll need to do things like disavow bad links or manually have those removed. Until it sees that what it considers to be bad has been removed, you don’t recover.
